Shannon founded Silvix Forestry nearly 30 years ago to provide stewardship planning and timber harvest services to a few forest landowners in PA.  As knowedge and understanding of the benefits of controlled burns grew among land stewards and practicioners, Shannon added this service to Silvix.

Shannon's professional experience includes work with several PA state agencies and cooperative agencies throughout the US.  He was worked in the private timber sales and wood product industries and in real estate.

Shannon is a Certified Forester and Forest Fire Warden.  He earned his BS in Forest Science from Penn State University where he was a member of Tau Phi Delta.  He enjoyed time on the Mont Alto Campus and was a member of the PSU Woodsmens Team.  Shannon has had extensive training in prescribed fire applications and, combined with years of professional experience in this field, is a Level 1 Burn Boss and prescribed fire instructor and trainer.

Shannon has served in a leadership role in the PA Prescribed Fire Council for several years.

Shannon's goal for his company, Silvix, is to connect forest and land stewards with a variety of sound resources and solutions to meet their goals and ensure the value and health of forests and natural resources for future generations.
